Leading Your Child to Success - FAQs

1) What is the Birth2Work philosophy?

When Parents Lead, Children Succeed

The challenge – and goal – for parents today is to determine how best to raise their children so that no matter what social or economic situation exists, they will be adaptive and capable people who are able to:

  • Be economically self-sufficient;
  • Engage and interact with others;
  • Actively participate in the governance process;
  • Learn, unlearn and relearn often; and
  • Take actions that prepare them for success in the future.
  • While classroom learning was/is indisputably important, students of the past came to school having had far more real life experiences than children have today. Thus, the education system alone cannot ensure the success of children today.

    To help parents meet this challenge head on, Birth2Work has identified four key components that comprise an integrated systems approach toward family leadership.

    Each component has as its foundation that genuine, human interactions - not those mediated by a machine - are the surest way to instill meaning, purpose and significance in children. We also believe that as parents, retired professionals and community leaders we can value technology, but we cannot let technology replace our role in establishing and reinforcing the values, beliefs and culture that are core to who we are and what we want to become.
