Montessori Education
With Judi Baurlein & JoAnn Deak

Featured Guests

Judi Baurlein & JoAnn Deak

Judi Bauerlein is both a model example of teacher educators and an extraordinary Montessorian.  Buoyed by optimism, her spirit of adventure and her determination have carried her through 44 years of dedication to the Montessori way of educating  children. As one of the first Montessori teachers in a public school, she taught children and mentored teachers along the way. In fact, she has been involved in educating teachers for the past 35 years at American Montessori Society (AMS) teacher education centers, AMS conferences, AMS touring symposia, workshops, and consultations.  Going wherever she is needed, with joy in her heart, Judi has inspired many teachers with her work in both the U.S. and abroad. This year, Judi has been recognized as the American Montessori Society’s 2010 Living Legacy, an honor bestowed by the AMS Scholarship Committee on an individual whose exemplary achievements have had significant impact within the AMS community. We are delighted to share her story and her words with you.

Following Judi Bauerlein's interview, we are pleased to introduce JoAnn Deak, PhD to our listening audience. Dr. Deak will deliver the keynote address at the American Montessori Society's 2009 Fall Conference speaking on "The Magic Blend: Creating a Culture of Community and Challenge". This speech represents years of work as a consultant to schools and parents across the globe who wanted to enhance their roles as guides for children.  Dr. Deak has written numerous articles and contributed to several books on the subject of nurturing healthy, successful children.

Please Note: One lucky listener to our radio program will win a ticket to attend the conference and hear Dr. Deak's speech live.
